“UNBEATABLE BIBO BURGER” Ride

(Ice Cave & Bandera Volcano, Grants, NM)

Lead Road Captain: Dann "Hollywood" Meyer

Rear Road Captain: Jeff "Hero" Velasquez

Enjoy the Chapter Ride to the New Mexico Ice Caves, and take the1/4 mile, 20 minute round trip walk to the 31 degree collapsed lava tube to view the perpetual ice formation. After that, you can hike to the top of Bandera Volcano (1/2 mile and approximately 40 minutes round trip) to view the 23 mile river of lava that was formed 10,000 years ago!

The Ice Cave and Bandera Volcano is a genuine experience in contrast. "The Land of Fire and Ice" is located directly on the Continental Divide. We will walk through the twisted old-growth Juniper, Fir, and Ponderosa Pine trees, over the ancient lava trails, down into the cave, and into a dormant volcano. Inside the cave, the natural layers of ice glisten blue green in the reflected rays of sunlight, illuminating natural arctic algae (the Ice).

We can take a walk around the Bandera Volcano and view one of the best examples of volcanic eruption in the country (the Fire). We will browse in the historic Ice Caves Trading Post which features ancient artifacts, geologic souvenirs, refreshing snacks, and warm New Mexican hospitality.

The Ice Cave and Trail admission is $12.00 per person with our group discount (normally $14).

After finishing the Ice Cave and Bandera Volcano, we will head to Bibo Bar and Grille for lunch. Bibo Bar & Grille was established in 1913 as a trading post and has always been family owned and operated. As you can guess by the name, it is no longer a Trading Post but is now a destination located off Historic Route 66. Whether you are looking for a cold drink or an amazing green chili cheeseburger, this is your place to come! Off the beaten path and referred to as the best kept secret in New Mexico, (just North of I-40 exit 114 and 11 short miles on NM Highway 279) you will find this jewel of history and some good eats. The Bibo Bar & Grill opens at noon on Sundays.
